there are just too many things I would like to buy myself at the moment, these gorgeous pieces from Jolie & Deen are some of them.
Has anybody visited the store? What did you think? Was I correct in stating that it's a gem?!

i'm slightly becoming more and more obsessed with Acne...and no I don't mean infect sebaceous glands on ones skin. I'm referring to the Swedish brand which makes me swoon everytime I walk past or into the GPO store in Melbourne.

The girls working there are lovely and I was impressed to receive such wonderful service (generally when I enter a store in my dorky uni clothes (yes, I make minimal effort for uni) with my Nike backpack I am looked down upon which is disappointing. Considering I work at Tiffany's, I have never, ever acted rudely or felt superior to anyone I have served, as I am serving them, that is my job role.

Anyway, I must add one of these boots to my wardrobe but cannot decide which ones, too many options!

it's that time of year again.
When we all ooh, aah, and gasp in complete horror of who wore what at the 'Schiaparelli And Prada: Impossible Conversations' Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art 2012 in New York.

To be honest, I really wasn't impressed with this years outfit choices. There were only a few who stood out to me which includes Camille Belle, Gisele Bundchen, Kate Bostworth, Solange Knowles, Lana Del Rey, Nina Dobvrev,Rosie-Huntington Whiteley (of course!) and January Jones.

I did not like Beyonce's dress on her in the slightest. She looked frumpy and it did not flatter her shape what-so-ever but that's just my opinion what do ya'll think?

D O Y O U K N O W W H A T ' S I N Y O U R M A K E - U P ?

i've honestly never paid much attention to what my costemtic products are compromised of until two years ago and again more recently after immersing in a discussion about what goes into our make-up.

When this subject took my interest two years ago I research (online of course!) the affects and harms of parabens and mineral oils used in many cleasners, moisturisers, foundations, shampoos shaving gels, topical pharmaceuticals and toothpaste.

Here are quick definitions of the two:

Parabens - 'Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives, and that’s why they are found in so many products. They are used to fight bacteria and fungus, are widely available, and cost very little to manufacture and use. Nearly all of the parabens used as preservatives are man-made and not naturally occurring' (extract from thegoodhuman.com).

Why are they bad? - one of the many arguments are to why parabens are considered bad includes, but is not limited to the fact that  'Parabens can mimic the hormone estrogen, which is known to play a role in the development of breast cancers' (again..thegoodhuman.com).

Mineral oils - 'It is a clear, odorless liquid, a byproduct of the distillation of gasoline from crude oil. It is a leftover liquid, and because it is abundant it is inexpensive' (extract taken from www.herballuxuries.com).

Why is it bad? - It is difficult to asborb and clogs pores, which slows our skins ability to emliminate toxins. Once the oil is absorbed it is broken down in the liver, passes through the intestinal tract and absorbs all of the fat-soluble vitamins found there. Essentially, it is taking important vitamins from the body which cannot be replaced. (www.herballuxuries.com).

Whilst the actual amount used in products would not be a large quantity one must think about the amount that is being aborsbed by our skin and/or put into our bodies throughout our lives.

These ingredients aside, what really disgusted me is what can be found in out foundations, mascaras, shampoos, eyeliners etc etc..

Lanolin - is the fatty substance found naturally on sheep's wool.

Tallow (not generally labelled as this) -  is a hard fatty substance made from rendered animal fat. These animals are generally road kill or animals collected from slaughter houses. In short, they are boiled and the fat and liquid which rises to the top is used in many cosmetic products. Not to mention, that is what 93% of McDonalds fries are fried in..."natual" and/ or "artifical" flavour..

Bat Guano - bats feces found in many mascaras, lipsticks, nail products, fragrances, cleansing products and the list goes on.

Whilst some may argue these products are "natural" one wouldn't go out and extract oil from a dead animal from the side of the road and smear it on their face..I think not.

unlike many other established and well-known bloggers I've never really posted a proper outfit post due to the fact that a) I'm not a model, b) I do not have a photographer boyfriend, c) I am not photogenic, d) I'm embarrassed to cavort around in public posing for a photo for my blog and e) I have no idea how to pose for these things!!

This is the outfit I wore to the 21st I had last night...What do ya'll think ladies?

I decided to name this little number Spike (original I know..note sarcasm). I am enjoying the soft gold-tone and attitude.  Spike and I are going to have a long and happy life together I can tell you that much.
